Q. Do I need my own camera to participate in a course or workshop?
A. No. OADF always encourage people to bring cameras if they have one, or to purchase one if they are seriously considering pursuing filmmaking, but the Academy provide equipment for students to use.
Q. If I want to purchase my own camera, how do I choose among the variety available?
A. OADF's tutors are professional filmmakers and can offer you thorough advice on all your options. The equipment that best suits you depends on how you intend to use it.
Q. Do OADF provide accommodation?
A. All OADF courses and workshops are non-residential. For those of you who are not from Oxford, we can offer several suggestions on inexpensive accommodation while you are in Oxford. Feel free to contact us at any time.
Q. How do I pay for the course or workshop?
A. OADF currently accept payment in the form of a cheque made out to The Oxford Academy of Documentary Film or an electronic bank transfer. Please mark your preferred form of payment on the application form; if paying by cheque, please send it with the application, or if paying by transfer, please email us for details.
Q. Why do you ask for our research interests on the application form?
A. We ask for this information to know a bit more about who you are. This is because we like to prepare the courses to cater for specific needs of our students, as well as general ones. It is very useful to know the geographical area in which you intend to work before the course or workshop begins.
Q. Do I need any previous knowledge in editing before I attend the course on Final Cut Express?
A.No. You will get a general overview of editing and comprehensive tuition in Final Cut Express, accompanied by a DVD that you can take home with you for your reference.
Q. Do I need my own copy of Final Cut Express HD?
A. No. We can install a copy for your use on the course. We recommend that you purchase your own copy, and OADF can get you a reduction in cost.
Q. Which version of Final Cut Express HD should I buy?
